It took us a while to redesign the website, but we're excited to finally release it. Not only have we made drastic changes to the website but we've made drastic changes to our business model. We went back to the drawing board, thought about our mission, thought about our interactions with our users, and reevaluated what is really important. It was a humbling experience but a lot of good came out of it.

The Show/Concert Is Everything

Not matter the idea we came up with and what the feedback we got, it…

We're excited to announce that the changes to the Account dashboard are done and are live. Our goal is to make the Account dashboard as intuitive as possible and reduce the confusion on how to add and manage your Music Professional Pages.

Pages Vs Profile Terminology

The biggest change we made was actually terminology. Initially we were saying you could have multiple profiles under one account. As we talked to people and showed them the product, there was a since of confusion. However, when we described…

As we have progressed in our market surveys, we've started to see how confusing the account dashboard is to our users. One of the biggest issues is that we have not effectively convey the message that everyone starts off as a fan and you have to upgrade your account to become a Musician, Band, Artist or Venue. So we're listening to our users and taking this time to redesign the account dashboard to make it less confusing and easier to understand the difference between Musicians, Bands, Artists and Venues…

I wanted to give everyone a quick update.

We're moving the company from New Jersey to New York this week. As some of you already know, we're a small startup and we will not have any representatives in New Jersey which the law requires to keep the company formed in New Jersey. In addition, the cost of operating as a business in New Jersey and doing business in New York is far more expensive than just dissolving the company in New Jersey and reforming it in New York. We will also be taking this opportunity…

So we've been doing some research and market studies for a service/feature for music professionals to upload music onto Music Tribe as well as offering a way for them to monetize the downloads. With my background in Computer Science, I had known about an exploit that allowed someone to download a streaming contents for free, even if the site said you had to pay to download the file. I have known about the exploit for a long time and didn't know if it was still around, so I decided to research the exploit to…

I apologize for the tardiness of this post. I want to start off by saying I had an awesome night last weekend at Real Art Tacoma! Initially, as I first walked in, I wasn't sure how I felt being in amongst a younger crowd. I then remembered how it was for me when I was younger. Finding places that I could go that would nurture my newfound identity in Metal and Hardcore was difficult. Coupled with the fact that there weren't many places that hosted my type of music in the small town that I lived in, I found…

Listen to the fans. That should go without saying, however, when you are very passionate about what you’re doing it is too easy to just say they don’t know anything. Basically, “they are wrong and I’m right!” or “they don’t know what real music is!” If a business that was selling cookies that tasted bad, like they were rotten, had the same attitude, how far would the go? Not very far right? You could say that about any business in any industry. I’m sure most of you already know that, especially if you’re…

It’s a fun experience to start a new business; whether in an enterprise or taking the plunge into starting a business yourself. For a long time I had worked on several ideas on the side that I had hoped would become a business before deciding to start Tune Tome. Even though they didn’t work out, they taught me a lot. However, without the Lean and Agile software development training I received while working at CareerBuilder, I wouldn’t truly understand why the side projects never left the ground and where we…

So we hit a snag when we applied for the identity verification service. Unknown to us, we apparently need to have a commercial address for the company and the building needs to be used for commercial purposes only. The government requires this for any business to use an identity verification service; I guess they want to make sure we are a legitimate business.

In the mean time, we’re currently working with the identity service provider to fix the issue. We were able to obtain a commercial address and…

We're finally on the beginning of our journey. It should be a fun journey and I can't ask for better partners to do this with than my best friend Josh Remillard and my sister Kim Gugino. I know a few people have expressed concern about starting a business with family and friends, but I think their wrong. Each person brings a different skill set to the team, even though you could find someone else, there is no one I could trust more to help start this company.
